Abstract
Different studies have suggested the involvement of resistin in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure and cerebrovascular disease. Different articles were retrieved by searching the following databases: PubMed, Embase, Ovid Medline.
Based on our results, we conclude that serum resistin concentration is involved in the pathogenesis of arteriosclerosis. In addition, serum resistin levels are increased in patients with hypertension, coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, and are related to the development and worsening of heart failure.
